This course will better inform the designer about fiber cement siding’s physical properties and its benefits, compared to other siding options. The participant will be able to describe the importance of long-term siding performance, and how to extend the longevity of a structure’s envelope using new climate zoned cladding. This course also illustrates new panel cladding and the best practices for cutting fiber cement siding.

Developing and Building Sustainably with Fiber Cement (IJH07F)
This course defines fiber cement and illustrates the overall benefits of its use within enclosure systems and structures. The designer will learn many aspects of fiber cement, as well as the 4 D’s of Wall Design and how water management and durability improve longevity of cladding. This course reviews embodied energy, LCA, parameters, and climate zoned cladding. The designer will able to learn about sustainable design when the course describes the environmental concerns regarding toxicity, VOC’s and paint.

Rainscreen Systems with Fiber Cement - Moisture Management in Layers (IJH07G)
This course will better inform the designer on moisture management in the building envelope and related considerations. The designer will evaluate rainscreen and wall assembly options and gain an understanding of how to incorporate rainscreens into their building envelope system.
